Three tourists die, child injured in Sonamarg vehicle accident

SONAMARG — Three tourists including two women died while a kid sustained critical injuries after a vehicle, they were travelling in, met with an accident at tourist resort Sonamarg falling under the jurisdiction of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.

Official sources told the news agency KNT that a Tata Sumo (JK13B-9912) on its way to Zero-Point from Sonamarg skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Panimatha spot — located between Bajri Nallah and Captain Mode.

“There were four passengers on board. The driver had a miraculous escape while two women and a man accompanying them died on the spot. A child has been shifted to hospital in critical condition,” they said.

They said the identities of these tourists are being ascertained.
