Kulgam Gunfight: Two militants killed, two cops injured

KULGAM — Two militants, including a Pakistani, were killed in south Kashmir’s Kulgam during a gunfight, police said on Monday.

Police said that the Khurbatapora village of Kulgam was cordoned off after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.

During the search operation, contact with militants was established, leading to a gunfight. During the exchange of fire, two militants were killed while two men from the counter-militancy Special Operation Group (SOG) of J-K Police sustained injuries.

Soon after, the injured policemen were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Police in a tweet, while quoting IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, said that one Pakistani militant (code name Chacha) and one ‘hybrid’ militant were killed in Khurbatapora encounter.
