JKPDD Power Curtailment Schedule in Pulwama
PULWAMA — In view of the dip in local power generation during winter, the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (PDD) announces a power curtailment schedule. Like other parts of the Valley of Kashmir, residents of Pulwama district are facing power curtailment. The JKPDD Power Curtailment Schedule in Pulwama is effective from November 2024.
Currently, the PDD has availability of 2300–2400 Megawatts for both the Jammu and Kashmir regions. However, the demand is 2500–2600 Megawatts. The power generation from the UT pool has reduced, by nearly 80 percent.
From across the regions, the total power generation capacity is 1200 Megawatts. However, as of now, a total of only 200–260 Megawatts of power from the UT pool is generated. As per the officials of PDD, there is a power curtailment of over six hours in urban areas and over eight hours of power curtailment in rural areas.
Also, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on October 22 directed the PDD to strictly adhere to the announced power curtailment schedule, emphasising that he will personally oversee its implementation on a day-to-day basis during the winter months.
