ASI killed, two cops injured as militants open fire in Srinagar

SRINAGAR — An ASI was killed while two other policemen were injured after militants opened fire in Lal Bazar Hazratbal road in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday evening, police said.

Kashmir Police Zone informed in a tweet that the militants fired at a police Naka party in the Lal Bazar area of Srinagar, injuring three police personnel. “They were rushed to a hospital, where ASI Ahmad succumbed to his injuries.”

In another tweet, it informed that ASI Mushtaq Ahmad succumbed to his injuries. “We pay rich tribute to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty. Other two injured personnel are being treated,” it said.

Meanwhile, police have cordoned off the area and launched a search for the militants involved in the act.
